A Quote to Ponder: "Who are you to change the world? I'm here to tell you, who are you not to?" -Jason Russell

About Mrs. Triplett

Mrs. Bailey Irene Triplett was born in Dale City, Virginia on May 5th in 1964.  When she was four, her mother moved her and her younger sister to Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina.  Mrs. Triplett always knew she wanted to be a teacher.  She used to dream about putting stickers on papers!  There aren't many jobs on the Outer Banks that can support a traveling lifestyle.  Mrs. Triplett knew she didn't want to be a Realtor or waitress so she decided she was going to college.
When in 8th grade, she became ill and missed six weeks of school.  She had to learn the basics of Algebra on her own!  Well guess what.  She did it!  This is when she knew she could be a teacher.  In high school, she studied French and enjoyed history very much.  Her French teacher, Madame Pierce and her junior year history teacher, Mr. Basnight helped her realize her potential.  She started applying herself more and found out she was a lot smarter than she thought.
Mrs. Triplett took a trip to Paris in junior year which opened her mind to the great big world.  She also had a job at Kitty Hawk Kites which allowed her to work with people from all over the world.  She learned a little Bulgarian and decided she had to be surrounded by a diverse population.  People are so different and we have so much to learn from each other!
She decided she would follow in Mr. Basnight's footsteps.  She attended East Carolina University and majored in history.  As a junior in college, she studied abroad in Paris!  When a senior at ECU, Mrs. Triplett was a member of AmeriCorps.  She basically taught 6th graders how to read.  After she graduated, she moved to the DC area.  After trying to find a job teaching, she found an opening tutoring for AVID.  She tutored at Stuart High, Luther Jackson Middle, Fairfax High, and Glasgow Middle schools.  After two years of tutoring with AVID, someone from Poe called!  I had been a substitute there once and because of the AVID Leadership Team cheerleading my name, I was offered a job!
I've been teaching at Poe for four years now and I love it.  I love my students and I love seeing the transition that occurs over a three year process.  I wouldn't change what I do for anything in the world.

Mrs. Triplett is an INFJ on the Myers-Briggs scale: http://www.personalitypage.com/INFJ.html.  Is it accurate?
